    Perfume Prices: Pre-COVID vs Now (+58% Officially Since 2019) — and What Is Getting Pricier Right Now

    How much more expensive is perfume compared to pre-COVID times? Official Russian inflation from December 2019 to December 2025 is +58% (Rosstat): a fragrance that cost 10,000 RUB before the pandemic would cost about 15 800 RUB today on inflation alone. Imported perfume was hit by two extra factors: the exchange rate (average EUR in 2019 — 72.5 RUB, today — 87.35 RUB, with 2022–2024 peaks above 100 RUB) and price increases by the fragrance houses themselves.     Pre-COVID vs now: official numbers

    Annual inflation in Russia (Rosstat, December over December):

    11. Niche reality is tougher: luxury houses raised list prices faster than inflation in 2020–2024 — per Vedomosti, the average bottle price in Russia grew by almost a quarter in early 2024 alone (source).

    For a month (2026-06-11 to 2026-07-05) we automatically tracked retail prices of 181 popular fragrances at major Russian retailers. The result: 38 fragrances got more expensive (by 5.5% on average), 79 got cheaper — summer sale season. The sharpest increase: Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Herba Fresca, +34.7% in one month.     Methodology

    Automated weekly retail price monitoring (2026-06-11 to 2026-07-05, 181 fragrances): only identical fragrances in identical sizes are compared; items with anomalous jumps (bottle-size changes, matching errors) are excluded.
